There Goes the Nobel Peace Prize

Three weeks ago, there was the question of Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize for bringing together North and South Korea; however, as of his last political maneuver (his tweet) he could not be further from the win. Although he has put his actions into words in a firm but incontestable manner with American currently on top, it does seem to be contrary to the intentions of the Nobel Peace Prize.

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and President Trump decided to hold a summit in Singapore on June 12th. The possibility of this summit is up in air due to North Korea not liking the fact that South Korea and the United States held war games; especially after North Korea had destroyed their nuclear testing site in preparation for the summit. Well, Kim Jong Un got upset and put the summit in Jeopardy. In order to maintain his position as leader, President Trump cancelled the meeting with a letter saying,

Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place. You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.

There Trump’s goes with his motto of ‘mine is bigger than yours’, forgetting that his is the President of the United States and not just a billionaire with an enormous ego.

So, there you have it folks, what started with Trump being the next Nobel Peace Prize winner to ending with him losing it and threatening the North Koreans. He’s truly an inspiration to all.

  1. Hello Kayleigh,

I enjoyed your blog post, I feel that Trump will continue to make these unprofessional statements in order to gain more followers. Hearing this does not come as a surprise as Trump thinks that this is a game and that he will win no matter what because he is filthy rich and no one can touch him. Sending a threatening letter to the North Koreans will do more harm than good; and on top of that Trump has the audacity to compare nuclear capabilities which sends a clear message to test this theory. Trump continues to NOT understand that his words can do a lot of harm; by sending threatening letters it risks many people’s lives, and jobs.

    Thank you,

    Ioana

  2. Great post Kayleigh,
The president is not working for the people, he is trying to show people he can do what he wants and no one can stop him. He recently imposed Tariffs on Canada which will impact our steel industry, which Canada responded with Tariffs for the United States. The ones who will continue to be effected are the citizens stuck in the middle. I wish Trump would start putting his ego aside and start thinking about people and their livelihoods.

  3. Kayleigh,

Great post. I liked your use of photos, especially the last one that would have been an unfortunate photo due to timing, except it works well in your post to further dismiss his ridiculous behaviour. To be honest, still the more I read and hear about Trump, the more frustrated/agitated I become. He really is just trying to look like the big and tough bully in the schoolyard type of idea. Trump thinks he’s untouchable and invincible due to his power and money which is ridiculous because he’s completely letting it go to his head. He seems to be always missing the metaphorical speed bump in his head, where he should decide whether something should be said out loud of kept in his head. He really is just hurting the US citizens and those from other countries that are getting caught in the cross-fire. After all the impulsive things he has done and continues to do, it shows that there is no change in his behaviour on the horizon and in that case my opinion remains that he should be immediately removed from presidency.

  4. Honestly, I don't think he was ever really in contention for the prize. There's just so much controversy and investigations going on around him, that getting the Peace Prize would be so incredibly ridiculous. Plus, in his mind, I think he's already won every prize ever. Because that's how he is.
